Conclosure 1.
In 1881, I was junior assistant to Messrs. Welchman and Gale of Ennismore Gdnɛ., Kensington, Architects and Builders.
From March 1882 to March 1885, I was articled pupil to A.C.
Boothby, Esq., A.M.I.C.I. of Kirkcaldy & Capar, Fife, NB. I was taught surveying, levelling, ke., and was engaged on the design and construction of Raith; Elie and 8. Monance; and St. Andrew's Water Works and Elie Drainage Works and some Railway & Bridge Schemes.
From March 1885 to August 1885, I was at the University College, Dundee, where I attained sighth place in physics and for which I
obtained a certificate.
From August 1885 to March 1886, I was Resident Engineer at Holloway College, Egham, and Holloway Sanitorium Virginia Water for R. B. Stirrat, Esq., C.X. of Westminister for the heating and cooking arrangements (by steam) and the reconstruction of the drainage
system.
From August 1886 to February 1887, I was assistant to Messrs. Hall and Partners and from February 1887 to March 1888 I was assistant to Radcliff Ward Esq., me of the partners, Electric and General Engineers, of Queen Anne's Gate and Chancery Lane, London.
I was enaged upon Electric Lighting & Traction Schemes and upon the design and construction of the first Electrical Busses to be run
in the city.
From April 1888 to February 1890, I was with Messrs. Fyson and Dowson M.M.ICE. of Delabay St. Westminister and for the greater part of the time chief assistent, and engaged upon the calculations and design for the steelwork for the Tower Bridge over the Thames. From February to September 1890, I was assistant to Sir
J. Coode & Son, Consulting Engineers to the Colonial Governments &c., I was engaged upon the designs and calculations for the jetty and pier work for Table Bay Harbour.
I became a student of the Inst. C. E. in 1883 and was awarded
& Miller Prise.
